Recently I discovered the wonderful world of Suzan Charlton, who “is a professional cartoonist . . . rumored to practice law as a hobby for a major Washington D.C. law firm.” Sounds vaguely familiar . . . Anyway, she is witty, sarcastic, charming, and endearing in her depiction of legal idiosyncrasies. (Excuse the redundancy.) She’s also hilarious. Check out her creative imagination in the world of Lawtoons here.

I want that to be my job description. It kind of is already, but not nearly enough.

Heather~”not nearly enough” is this week’s biggest understatement. At least you’ve got housing fun to distract. My name is “Iwillhit2000hoursifitkillsme.” Also pronounced “legal slave.”

Hmmm…. some tweaking and these could serve as the holy ten for academics. But I thought #9 was de rigeur for you law types? or maybe it’s the Latin that makes all those case studies so dry… Good luck getting in those 2000 hours. Peace…

Ha! That’s great, I’m sending a link to my lawyer friend who lives in another state but probably also experiences that fun crap. But, at least you guys only had to endure 3 years of school to get this work environment. Academics had many, many more years of underpaying servitude.

Yeah, I’m playing the 2000 game, too. I’m on this horrific doc production with a December 24 deadline and I just keep thinking “it’s okay Heather, if you’re gonna bill, bill hard.” That bonus has already been spent, as you’ve read.

Avocado~the joys of academia. And I thought it was slavery, not servitude?
